You must meet certain criteria to be eligible for the following:
Eligibility Criteria for Rent Geared to Income:

At least one member of the household is 16 years of age or older and is able to live independently (or able to live independently with the aid of certain support services and those support services have been arranged).

Legal resident of Canada. Applicants must provide proof, such as Canadian birth certificate, Canadian citizenship documentation, landed immigrant documentation.

Refugee claimants are eligible (must provide documentation)

People who are under a deportation order, departure order or exclusion order to leave Canada are not eligible.

No member of the household owes arrears to another social housing provider

No member of the household has been convicted of an offence in relation to rent-geared-to-income assistance by a court of law or the Landlord and Tenant Board.
NOTE: Your calculated rent-geared-to-income amount will vary depending on the amount of your available income. The household will be required to apply for, and make reasonable efforts to receive all types of income in which they may be eligible for before the application is considered or continued geared-to-income subsidy is granted.
Eligibility Criteria for Market Rent:
There are no eligibility requirements for market rent units.
