In addition to your monthly Basic Financial Assistance, and Employment Assistance you may also be entitled to the following:
Monthly Drug Card:
A monthly drug card will cover most of your prescription drug costs. Speak with your pharmacist if the type of drug prescribed for you is not covered. Your doctor may be able to provide a generic drug which is covered by your monthly drug card.
NOTE: the drug card does not cover the pharmacy's dispensing fee.

Monthly Dental Card:
A monthly dental card covers basic dental treatment for eligible children of OW participants. Adult dental care is capped at $400.00 per year for emergency dental work only. All adults should speak to their Case Worker before having any dental work done.

Vision Care:
Vision care is provided for all dependant children. Adults are eligible up to $300 Single Vision and $350 per year for Multi-Vision care towards the cost of frames/lenses/ or contacts.

Special Diets:
If you are required to follow a special diet prescribed by your doctor or healthcare professional, you may qualify for additional funds. Pregnant women receive a nutritional allowance in addition to any special diet allowance they may already have.

Medical Travel:
The cost of travel for necessary medical, dental or vision appointments in locations not covered under the Northern Health Travel Grant is issued by Ontario Works.

Employment Transition Benefit:
Funds up to $500 can be issued to help people who obtain full-time employment (30hrs or more per week) with the costs of starting that work.

Employment & Training Start-Up Benefit:
Funds up to $253.00 can be issued to help people who obtain part-time employment (less than 30 hrs per week) or begin a training program to assist with the cost of starting work or training.

Employment Related Expenses:
Any additional costs such as transportation, clothing, tools or supplies that are required while participating in the Ontario Works employment activities are reimbursed through Employment Related Expenses fund.

Community Start-Up Benefit:
Funds are available on an as needed basis for persons who are moving due to employment, facing eviction from their homes, leaving an institution or having to relocate as a result of family violence or health issue.

Informal Childcare Costs:
The costs of informal childcare incurred due to your participation in an Ontario Works activity, such as training or Community Placement will be covered by the Ontario Works program.
Informal childcare costs incurred while working is allowed as deduction when calculating the amount of your Ontario Works entitlement.
You also qualify for full Child Care Fee Subsidy towards day care costs while in receipt of Ontario Works.

Extended Employment Health Benefits:
Participants who become ineligible for Ontario Works due to employment income in excess may continue to receive the Ontario Works drug and dental card as well as other health related discretionary benefits such as vision costs, for a maximum period of six months or until the health benefits from the employer begin, if applicable.

Extended Health Benefits:
Participants who become ineligible for Ontario Works due to other income in excess, and who have high health costs, may continue to receive the Ontario Works drug and dental card as well as other health related expenses for a period of up to six months. The eligibility for this program is confirmed monthly.
