The Ontario Works Program provides financial and employment assistance as well as other types of benefits. An outline of each of these benefits is given.
Basic Financial Assistance:
These funds are issued to help with food and shelter costs. The amounts are issued monthly and are based on family size, age of children, financial situation, and accommodation costs. The maximum amounts are established by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and are not negotiable. The following chart provides an example of the maximum amounts persons can receive, as of December 2011.
