Communities with Non-Profit units are: White River, Wawa, Richard\u2019s Landing, Thessalon, Blind River and Elliot Lake.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_2 et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<h4>Affordable Housing Program<\/h4>\n<p>Within the Algoma District there are 2 apartment buildings each with 10 units in Echo Bay, 1 apartment building with 10 units in Dubreuilville, 10 semi-detached family homes in Elliot Lake, 1 apartment building with 10 units in Wawa, 1 apartment building with 12 units in Richard\u2019s Landing and 1 apartment building with 33 units in Thessalon which are owned by ADSAB and offer affordable market rents.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_row_inner et_pb_row_inner_0\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et_pb_column_inner et_pb_column_inner_0 et-last-child\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_0 et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<h4>Public Housing<\/h4>\n<p>ADSAB owns and manages rent-geared-to-income (RGI) units in 10 municipalities within the Algoma District. RGI means that monthly rent is determined by a calculating 30% of the household\u2019s total monthly gross income.<\/p>\n<h4>Other Subsidies<\/h4>\n<p>ADSAB has a variety of subsidy programs to subsidize tenants who wish to remain in a unit privately owned by a landlord. Availability of these subsidies are dependent upon funding and eligibility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<div class=\"mkd-accordion-holder clearfix mkd-toggle mkd-initial \">\n\t<h6 class=\"clearfix mkd-title-holder \">\n<span class=\"mkd-accordion-mark mkd-left-mark\">\n\t\t<span class=\"mkd-accordion-mark-icon\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"icon_plus\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"icon_minus-06\"><\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n<\/span>\n<span class=\"mkd-tab-title\">\n\t\t<span class=\"mkd-tab-title-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"mkd-tab-title-main\">RENT GEARED TO INCOME (RGI)<\/span>\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n<\/span>\n<\/h6>\n<div class=\"mkd-accordion-content\">\n\t<div class=\"mkd-accordion-content-inner\">\n\t\t[vc_column_text]<strong>Public Housing and Non Profit Housing Corporations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>RGI subsidy is financial assistance provided to eligible households under legislated eligibility requirements to reduce the amount the household must pay to occupy a unit in a housing project.<\/p>\n<p>RGI assistance is 30% of a household\u2019s monthly Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI). The AFNI is determined annually using each household member\u2019s Notice of Assessment (NOA). If the household is receiving assistance from Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program your rent is calculated according to the social assistance rent scale. Additional charges may apply such as such as utilities, parking, laundry, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong>: Complete a Housing Services Application<\/p>\n<p>The application process can be started by printing the application online or picking up a hard copy at one of our area offices. Please ensure copies of all relevant documents are provided with the completed and signed application.<\/p>\n<p>ADSAB\u2019s area offices:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 Elizabeth Walk, Elliot Lake<\/li>\n<li>15 Hanes Ave, Blind River<\/li>\n<li>135 Dawson Street, Suite 201, Thessalon<\/li>\n<li>50 Broadway Ave., Wawa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upon receipt of your application, eligibly will be determined and you will receive a letter advising you have been placed on the ADSAB centralized waitlist for the units\/areas you have been deemed eligible or you will receive a letter advising you are ineligible with the reason why.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for Social Housing you must meet all of the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least one member of the household is 18 years of age or older and\/or meet the age requirement for the building;<\/li>\n<li>You able to live independently with or without support services;<\/li>\n<li>Each member of the household must meet at least one of the following criteria:\n<ul>\n<li>Is a Canadian citizen,<\/li>\n<li>Has made an application for status as permanent resident under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, (Canada), or<\/li>\n<li>Has made a claim for refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), and;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>You must file your annual income tax return;<\/li>\n<li>Your income is within the allowable limits for the largest size unit you are eligible for;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"120\">Bach\/1 bedroom<\/td>\n<td width=\"90\">2 Bedrooms<\/td>\n<td width=\"96\">3 Bedrooms<\/td>\n<td width=\"96\">4+ Bedrooms<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"120\">34,000<\/td>\n<td width=\"90\">40,500<\/td>\n<td width=\"96\">45,000<\/td>\n<td width=\"96\">59,500<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li>Your assets are within the allowable limit of $100,000. Some assets are not considered. These include personal items such as clothing, furniture, vehicles, RRSPs, Retirement Income Funds, Life Income Funds, life annuities, and assets as a result of pain and suffering awards.<\/li>\n<li>You or any member of the household do not owe arrears with respect to a previous tenancy in any housing program throughout the province of Ontario, and;<\/li>\n<li>You or any member of the household have not been convicted of an offence in relation to rent-geared-to-income assistance by a court of law of the Landlord and Tenant Board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOTE:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<em>an individual is able to live independently if he or she can carry out the normal essential activities of day-to-day living, either on his or her own or with the aid of support services that the individual requires.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><strong>Priority and Unit Selection:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Households are prioritized chronologically by date placed on the waitlist with priority given to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Special priority for victims of abuse or trafficking<\/li>\n<li>Homeless Priority Status<\/li>\n<li>Medical Priority Status<\/li>\n<li>Internal Transfers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once your name becomes first on the centralized waitlist and a unit becomes available, you will be contacted for an offer of a unit. The AHS is a combination of the <strong><em>Commercial Rent Supplement<\/em><\/strong><em>, <strong>Homelessness Prevention Program <\/strong><\/em>and the <strong><em>Investments in Affordable Housing<\/em><\/strong> funding allocations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong> Complete a Housing Services Application<\/p>\n<p>The application process can be started by printing the application online or picking up a hard copy at one of our area offices. Please ensure copies of all relevant documents are provided with the completed and signed application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All household members with income must file an income tax return and provide ADSAB the Notice of Assessment (NOA) from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).<\/li>\n<li>A household ceases to be eligible if income tax returns are not filed annually.<\/li>\n<li>A household is only eligible if their rental accommodation is within the ADSAB\u2019s service area.<\/li>\n<li>A household cannot be in receipt of an RGI, COHB or any other agency or government funded housing benefit while also in receipt of AHS.<\/li>\n<li>Households living in ADSAB\u2019s Affordable Housing or Market Rent units do not qualify for AHS (subject to management approval) however; these households may apply for the provincial COHB program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Priority and Unit Selection:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Households are prioritized chronologically by date placed on the waitlist with priority given to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Special priority for victims of abuse or trafficking<\/li>\n<li>Homeless Priority Status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When there is funding available and once your name becomes first on the centralized waitlist, you will be offered a subsidy.[\/vc_column_text]\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h6 class=\"clearfix mkd-title-holder \">\n<span class=\"mkd-accordion-mark mkd-left-mark\">\n\t\t<span class=\"mkd-accordion-mark-icon\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"icon_plus\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"icon_minus-06\"><\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n<\/span>\n<span class=\"mkd-tab-title\">\n\t\t<span class=\"mkd-tab-title-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"mkd-tab-title-main\">CANADA \u2013 ONTARIO HOUSING BENEFIT (COHB) \u2013 PORTABLE HOUSING BENEFIT (PHB)<\/span>\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n<\/span>\n<\/h6>\n<div class=\"mkd-accordion-content\">\n\t<div class=\"mkd-accordion-content-inner\">\n\t\t[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]COHB is a federal-provincial portable housing benefit delivered by the Province of Ontario where funding is paid directly to low-income households that are on, or eligible to be on, a social housing waiting list, and to households in financial need living in community housing.<\/p>\n<p>The PHB is calculated using 80% of Average Market Rent (AMR) for the Service Manager (Algoma District Services Administration Board (ADSAB)) area and 30% of the Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI) for the household.<\/p>\n<p>Social assistance recipients have a separate maximum benefit calculation to avoid a reduction in social assistance entitlements after receiving the COHB<\/p>\n<p>ADSAB identifies and selects eligible households and assists with the application submission to the Ministry of Finance (MOF).<\/p>\n<p>Households may also receive first and last month\u2019s rent assistance as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong> 2 Step Process<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete a Housing Services Application;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The application process can be started by printing the application online or picking up a hard copy at one of our area offices. Please ensure copies of all relevant documents are provided with the completed and signed application.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>COHB application<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You will be contacted when COHB funds are available and provided information and assistance to complete and submit the application.
